Ex-SEAL: Battlefield Medical Techniques Needed for Civilian Shootings

An eye surgeon and former Navy SEAL who helped transform battlefield medicine is on the front line of a national push to save the lives of civilians targeted in mass shootings and terror attacks.

Frank Butler, 67, of Pensacola was the command surgeon for U.S. special operations when American forces entered Afghanistan after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Because of his work, all American soldiers deployed in war zones today carry tourniquets as part of their standard-issue equipment — a move credited with saving hundreds of lives.

ISIL’s Virtual Planners: A Critical Terrorist Innovation

On December 19, Anis Amri plowed a hijacked truck through the Christmas market in one of Berlin’s main public squares, killing 12 people. The following day, the Amaq News Agency of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) released a statement claiming responsibility for the attack. Although some characteristically skeptical commentators suggested that ISIL could just be taking credit for an attack to which it had no real connection, the militant group left no doubt four days later when it released a video showing Amri pledging his loyalty to ISIL’s leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

House Report: US Facing Biggest Islamic Terror Threat Since 9/11

The United States faces its highest threat from Islamist terrorists since 9/11 and much of that stems from those radicalized at home, according to the House Homeland Security Committee’s December Terror Threat Snapshot released Tuesday.

What’s more, the report said, the threat to the United States and Europe will persist in 2017.

Throughout 2016, ISIS conducted 62 attacks worldwide, injuring 732 people and killing 215 in several countries, including the United States, France, and Belgium.

NATO Adapts NICS, a Communications Platform for First Responders

DHS Warns Local Police After ISIS Calls for Mass Casualty Attacks

Fox News chief intelligence correspondent Catherine Herridge reported this afternoon on a new DHS terror warning to local police departments.

Herridge explained that the four-page DHS intelligence note was sent out to federal, state and local authorities after an ISIS propaganda magazine called for mass casualty attacks using trucks as weapons.

The DHS warning comes after a July attack in which an ISIS-inspired terrorist drove a truck through a crowd in Nice, France, killing 86 people and injuring 400, including many children.
