Chemical of the Week – Nitric Oxide

Nitric Oxide

Nitric oxide (NO) may be used in medical and industrial settings, but it poses serious risks when released uncontrolled. As a colorless gas with toxic and reactive properties, NO can rapidly oxidize to nitrogen dioxide, a corrosive and harmful inhalation hazard. For hazmat technicians, understanding its behavior, exposure risks, and containment protocols is critical for safe response and scene management.

Have fun and let us know how you did in researching the hazards.
